How do you turn a stack of books or bottles into a design object?
Playing with gravity, the Ptolomeo bookcase by Bruno Rainaldi is Opinion Ciatti’s great icon. This freestanding bookcase, an emblem of contemporary design, is the fruit of extensive research into form, stripped of all superfluity and concealed to highlight its contents. Its minimalist design, awarded the Compasso d’Oro, transforms books into architecture and invites itself into the most demanding interiors.
Ptolomeo pays homage to books, but above all to the first man to care for them: Ptolemy I Soter, King of Egypt and one of the greatest rulers of the Hellenistic era, built the Library of Alexandria.
Elegant design, comfort, versatility, and as precious as a jewel, the Mamma Mia chair by Marcello Ziliani could be called “audacious”. Made from a die-cast aluminum shell and steel frame, its extreme thinness (just 4 mm thick) doesn’t compromise its solidity.
We also love the fine gold foil, handcrafted with rare meticulousness, whose irregular texture plays with reflections and light.
