An interior designer who has worked with major groups such as Accor and Club Med, Isabelle MAFFRE has gradually come to specialize in the hotel industry. Her dual vision, both operational and aesthetic, enables her to grasp the challenges of this ultra-dynamic sector from a global perspective.
Isabelle MAFFRE takes a methodical approach to her projects, and likes to surround herself with efficient, trustworthy people.
As a long-standing partner, it was only natural that Made In Design PRO should be called upon for the renovation of the Hôtel LYKKE in Chamonix.
Nestled in the heart of the Alps, this 150-room, 4-star hotel has been designed to offer visitors an immersive, authentic experience. Inspired by the “HYGGE” art of living, LYKKE’s decor (which means “happiness” in Danish) extends from the rooms to the lobby and restaurant, creating a harmonious atmosphere. A cocooning, Scandinavian ambience that stands out in the mountain hotel landscape.
“Hotel LYKKE called on my services to renovate the entire space. This was a rather difficult exercise, since the hotel is made up of two buildings crossed by a road. The first challenge was to give unity to the establishment through the choice of decoration and furniture. The second challenge was to create a new dining area in keeping with the hotel’s Scandinavian ambience. As deadlines were very tight, I surrounded myself with responsive partners such as Made In Design PRO and Tec Hotel.
“With the help of Valérie DELAGE VIGIER, my Made In Design PRO project manager, I selected well-known Scandinavian brands such as &Tradition and Ferm Living to underpin the HYGGE concept of the LYKKE hotel. The famous Bok chairs byEthnicraftBok chairs, Pawn occasional tables by Serax or Clover poufs by Polspotten were used to complete the decoration of the rooms and dining area. The idea was to highlight raw materials such as solid wood and ceramics, while integrating contemporary touches.
“Beyond the aesthetic coherence of the decoration, it is necessary to take into account the functional constraints of a hotel when choosing furniture. Furniture is subject to a great deal of wear and tear. In this respect, the hotel industry is moving with the times, favoring high-quality furniture that lasts over the years. With its multi-brand catalog, Made In Design PRO offers a wide selection of iconic design brands that meet this need for durability.”
“I need efficiency when it comes to carrying out my projects. Working with a dedicated project manager who follows the project from start to finish facilitates communication and increases flexibility. Valérie was able to make pertinent proposals in line with the LYKKE hotel concept and provide me with real advice, particularly on lighting. It was a smooth, pleasant collaboration that we’ll be renewing for a future project in Grenoble.
“The hotel industry is a highly competitive sector. Incorporating iconic pieces and eye-catching signature objects makes all the difference. It therefore seemed obvious to me to suggest to Isabelle, for this 4-star hotel project, a selection from among the great names in design such as Flos, Kartell, Ethnicraft and Foscarini”.
